stuff YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

What happens if COVID-19 effects my booking?

Zero stress. If you can’t fly or travel due to COVID-19 border restrictions we will work with you to reschedule a new tour date in the future, or you can get a full refund minus deposit.

What’s Included?

Heaps! As part of your tour, we include hire of our current model Husqvarna 450 Motorbikes, experienced tour guides, completely stocked support truck that meets with riders daily, all fuel, accommodation under the stars, food, flights from Bamaga to Cairns, all permits, park entry fees and ferry crossing fees plus a UCE tour tee-shirt! All this for $5,990 all in! (2024 prices)

GROUPS

ARE GROUPS WELCOME?

Abso-bloody-lutely! If you get your mates together you can book out a whole trip (max group size 13 riders) and turn this thing into the best adventure with your crew you’ll ever do.

WHAT IF I CAN’T RIDE ANY MORE?

If you need to stop riding for any reason, but still want to follow the tour along, you have the option of the UCE support truck with one of our crew.

CAN I RIDE ALONG IN THE TRUCK?

If you have a partner or mate who doesn’t ride but wants to come along in the UCE truck for the tour, just reach out to chat about options. It’s not quite the same as seeing the tour on two wheels, but it’s a great way for them to see the sights at a discounted rate and still take part in the experience.

LICENSES & RIDING SKILLS:

What bike license do I need?

You will need a valid Motorcycle license or Motorcycle learner’s permit. We have to sight this in person and record your details so you’ll need to provide a copy prior to leaving on the trip.

I HAVE MY MOTORBIKE L’s – CAN I COME?

Yep, we can look after you. Get in touch and let us know about your riding background so we can work out a game-plan together. If your attitude to riding is that you’re coming to have fun and have an adventure you’re going to have a blast. Our hire fleet bikes are learner legal.

I might be too slow…

We have a no-one left behind policy so you don’t have to stress about keeping up. You’ll never be passed by the rear sweep. Your job is to have a good time and if that means you ride a bit slower than the pointy end of the group that’s fine. This is not about racing, but having a good time in the bush with mates and seeing some of the best scenery in Australia.

AM I UP TO THIS LEVEL OF RIDING?

If you can ride already and are willing to learn on the job, then you’ll be ok. After you pay your deposit, you may be contacted by the UCE team to talk about your riding capability. That’s a very good time to have a good honest conversation about your abilities so we can work out what will work best for you as a rider. We can modify track selection to suit skill levels and our sweep rider will be carefully keeping an eye on how you’re travelling.

GEAR:

Can you guys provide the gear?

Ultimate Cape Escape provide you with a Husqvarna 450 to ride. We always recommend people come with their own, tested gear that you know will be comfortable for multi-day riding. We can hire out helmets, riding tops, pants, body armour and boots just let us know.

What Bikes will I ride?

We are running late model Husqvarna 450 in our bike fleet. It’s a great bike with more than enough poke to have a good time on, and pretty easy to get across if you don’t have as much riding experience.

What other bike gear do I need?

Standard Aussie enduro riding gear - an Aus Standards approved helmet, riding top and pants, motorbike boots, gloves, googles and body armour.

I want to bring my own bike. Can I?

Yep you sure can. It’ll save you some bucks on the tour cost too (reach out to us on the Contact page if this is you). There’s some rules though - your bike has to have a long range fuel tank fitted (300km). It’s got to be in good nick with new brake pads, bearings fitted. For rubber you gotta have new tyres and heavy duty tubes fitted and ready to go. You will also be responsible for getting it to and from where you live to Cairns. You will need be on top of your bike maintenance game too, and will need to supply your own spares, spare tyres & tubes, filters and fluids.

what happens if my UCE hire bike breaks down?

Generally we’ll be able to fix it and get you up and going again. Our fleet of bikes are good quality and in good repair, but we’re also talking about riding in the bush, so we also have a spare bike we can put you on in the event yours is not repairable. If through no fault of your own we find ourselves in a situation where we can’t fix your bike and we can’t put you on a spare you may be eligible for another ride in the future.

What’s mobile reception like?

Patchy. We’re talking far north Queensland here, so if you’re married to your phone, be prepared for a little separation anxiety. Some spots are good, some you will have zero coverage.

IS THERE A PACKING LIST?

Yep, we give you a complete packing list that will help you get everything sorted. This is sent through as we complete your booking.

MONEY & THE NITTY GRITTY:

IS THERE A BOND?

We will either take a pre-authorisation for $1800 or we can accept a cash bond. This is standard with any vehicle hire - and is there to make sure we keep all our hire gear in good condition. Your bond will be returned at the end of the tour in inspection of your bike and any hire gear.

Apart from the tour cost, what extra money will I need?

We take care of fueling and maintaining your bike, and you (so we’ll feed you too with bbq style dinners). On top of that if you want grog, or pub meals you’ll need to pay for that out of pocket. Any incidentals along the way that you want to grab like souvenirs are on you, too.

What if there is an accident?

Firstly, please bear in mind that with adventure sport, there’s always a risk of an accident, minor or major. Our guides have our first aid certificates, and always carry appropriate first aid kits as part of our standard load-out. We also carry a sat phone and EPIRB to get emergency help.

INSURANCE

Our Tours are covered by a 20 million dollar Public Liability Insurance Policy. Motorcycling Australia required a signed liability waiver before your tour commences. It is up to each individual to seek personal insurance/income protection insurance, if you choose to (this is not mandatory) and we highly recommend that you obtain ambulance cover before you come on tour in case of an emergency or injury. We also highly recommend taking out travel insurance to cover you for anything that pops up that may require you to be unable to attend the tour.

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL?

We get that life happens and we want to see you on a tour in the future. If you need to cancel and it’s less than 7 days before the booked tour no refunds will be issued. See the terms and conditions page for our full cancellation policy.

DO I PAY IF BREAK UCE'S BIKE?

Yes. We have a $1800 security bond which is returned to you at the end of your adventure. This covers, damage or breakage to bike, accessories and riding gear as applicable. We will discuss any issues with you before any money is charged. Standard Aussie mate’s rules - if you borrowed a mate’s bike and broke something you’d pay to fix it. Same goes here.

WHAT IF I HAVE MEDICAL CONDITIONs?

If you have any medical conditions going on that we need to know about, you will need to have a chat to your GP, discuss what’s going on and then get a letter from them that states that they are ok with you undertaking one of our tours. It must be valid for the dates of the tour.

FOOD, DRINK & ACCOMODATION:

IS AlCOHOL INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?

Sorry, no alcohol is included in our tour pricing. We eat and stay at venues where it will be available to purchase. Please remember normal BAC rules apply you can’t get on the bike if you’re under the influence (Over 0.05 BAC).

WHERE DO WE STAY EACH NIGHT?

We’ve got some great locations along the trail to stay under the stars, farm stations and camp grounds to stay at night. They all do good tucker, have cold drinks ready to go and like riders. What’s not to love!

IS THERE AN itinerary?

Yep, we send this through along with your packing list. This is sent through as we complete your booking.

WHAT BEDDING DO I BRING?

Bedding wise, you’ll need to bring along a pillow if you can’t sleep without one, and a single fitted sheet.

WHAT LUGGAGE CAN I BRING?

On the tour you will have minimal space - most people bring along a couple of changes of very light hot weather clothes (2 sets of shorts and teeshirts and thongs). During the day you’ll be wearing your riding gear. We do not have room for your large gear bags (you will be wearing your gear).

WHAT ABOUT FOOD ALLERGIES/ SPECIAL DIETARY nEEDS?

At a minimum of 2 week’s before the tour starts, get in touch let us know what you got going on food-wise and we’ll take care of the rest. Easy.
